Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc. (WSSI) acquired the popular SmartDraft line of productivity enhancement software for AutoCAD® in January 2011 (see Field Notes Vol. 19 No. 1). As a member of the Autodesk® Developer Network, the SmartDraft development team is experienced in developing SmartDraft features that compliment Autodesk products. The SmartDraft Suite, Survey, and PConnect are developed for AutoCAD Civil 3D and are compatible with AutoCAD and AutoCAD® Map 3D.
SmartDraft helps bridge the transition to AutoCAD Civil 3D, whether from AutoCAD® Land Desktop, PC Survey, Traverse PC, Carlson®, or any of the other civil/survey CAD packages on the market. Developed to meet production needs and requests since 1989, SmartDraft "thinks" like an engineer, designer, and surveyor.
SmartDraft 9 is presently offered in three software bundles with various levels of functionality: |

SmartDraft 9 Suite – designed for the civil engineer, surveyor, and mapping and drafting professionals – is our comprehensive set of AutoCAD Civil 3D productivity enhancements and provides tools for labeling plan and profile design, site layout, managing block (symbol) libraries, point placement and labeling, AutoCAD table linking to Microsoft Excel sheets, and many general drafting enhancements. |

SmartDraft 9 Survey – focusing on surveyors and mapping professionals – is a subset of SmartDraft 9 Suite and provides tools to label and modify labels of lines and curves with bearings, distances, deltas, radaii, tangents, etc. Tools to place and label points, create closure reports, and write legal descriptions from polylines or parcels, as well as tools for planview layout, are included. |

SmartDraft 9 PConnect is our field-to-finish tools and a subset of the tools in the SmartDraft 9 Suite. PConnect provides an easy-to-use superior point connection tool designed to combine the best features of attributed point coding with an easily controlled – yet powerful – 2D and 3D line control language. PConnect can use your company's specific description keys, combined with its suffix codes, to create robust geometry from surveyed data collected in the field. |
