On December 3, 2011, Wetland Studies and Solutions (WSSI) helped coordinate with the United States Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment to host combat wounded Marines at the 1st Annual White Hall Farm Wounded Warrior Hunt. The event, sponsored by WSSI, The Wildlife Foundation of Virginia, D.H. Griffin, MetroStar Systems, Hunt Country Wildlife Management Services, The Meurlin Group, N.F. Adams LLC, CCI Screenprinting, and Gobbler Down Custom Calls, provided an opportunity for combat wounded veterans to experience a day afield hunting waterfowl.

The event was held at Belvoir Farm in The Plains, Virginia. Participants were treated to a hearty breakfast before spending the morning in the waterfowl blinds where the action started fast and was nonstop through mid-morning. With only a quick break for lunch and photos, the Marines were eagerly back in the blind for the evening hunt where they were able to experience the sight of thousands of honking geese landing in the decoys, top notch gun dogs and a beautizful sunset. The event was a huge success with several of the participants harvesting their first Canada geese and ducks.

WSSI and all the other participating sponsors are honored to have the opportunity to support our Wounded Warriors and all the servicemen and women stationed around the world. Planning is already underway for future events to support this cause, starting with a Wounded Warrior Spring Turkey Hunt in May of 2012, which will again be co-sponsored by WSSI.
