This month, we bring WSSI's Environmental Compliance Department into the spotlight, which works with owners and contractors to ensure that each site remains in compliance with environmental permit requirements (i.e., VSMP & VWP – or colloquially – Erosion and Sediment (E&S) Control Inspections and Wetland Permit Compliance Monitoring) throughout the lifecycle of the project.
At the on-set of the development process, our team will coordinate with regulatory agencies and the design team to prepare a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and E&S inspection schedule that guarantee compliance from pre-construction through final stabilization. Additionally, our compliance staff installs photo monitoring stations and prepares construction monitoring reports required by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Virginia Water Protection (VWP) permits (i.e., wetland permits).
In the event that a violation occurs due to unforeseen circumstances (like an over-ambitious bull dozer clearing unauthorized wetlands), our intimate knowledge of regulations and our successful history of working closely with Local, State, and Federal agencies give us the unique ability to remedy nearly any situation. This saves you time. This saves you money.
Why WSSI?
WSSI's biggest differentiator is the combination of cross-trained wetland inspectors and our certified E&S Inspectors, who have over 50 years of combined experience working with Department of Conservation (DCR), DEQ, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE), Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and various municipalities through the performance of site inspections, audits, permitting and plan review. Our technical expertise and knowledge of Best Management Practices (BMP) and E&S products identify the most economical solutions for our clientele, while reducing impacts to the environment.
