WSSI Honors Veterans with Wounded
Warrior Spring Turkey Hunt

Following the success of the 1st Annual Wounded Warrior Waterfowl Hunt in December 2011, Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., (WSSI) decided to expand their philanthropic efforts and host a Wounded Warrior Spring Turkey Hunt. This three-day event was held during the first week of May and was a great success, as WSSI staff and other contributors coordinated with the United States Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment to host combat wounded Marines for an unforgettable experience in the spring turkey woods.

The 2012 Wounded Warrior Spring Turkey Hunt was sponsored by WSSI, The Wildlife Foundation of Virginia, The National Wild Turkey Federation, Croppe Metcalfe Mechanical, Hunt Country Wildlife Management Services, Dynetics, Growing Deer TV, CCI Screenprinting, Glasstec Inc., RLTW, Inc., MG Tactical, Inc. and Gobbler Down Custom Calls.

The event included accommodations for three nights in a rustic hunting camp in the heart of the beautiful Appalachian Mountains in Alleghany County, Maryland. Hunting each day was non-stop from day break to noon with many of the participants experiencing the excitement of the sights and sounds of the spring turkey woods for the first time. The afternoons and evenings were spent playing cards, horseshoes, and socializing around the bonfire. The final evening of the hunt was topped off with a pig roast, prepared by WSSI's Compliance department staff.

WSSI and all the other participating sponsors are honored to have the opportunity to support our Wounded Warriors and all the servicemen and women stationed around the world and will be planning future events for 2012, beginning with the 2nd Annual Wounded Warrior Waterfowl Hunt in December 2012.
