Public Comments Due November 20 on More Changes to Stormwater Management Regulations and Construction Activity Permit – Eliminates Proffered Rezoning Grandfathering!

Two Public Notices were issued for proposed changes to the Virginia Stormwater Management Regulations and its related Construction Activity Permit on October 18, 2013. This included a Public Comment due date of November 20, 2013 on two long debated and related regulations.

WSSI Archeologist Awarded City of Alexandria Brenman Award

The Alexandria Archaeology Commission, Mayor William D. Euille, and the City Council recently honored WSSI’s Boyd Sipe as Outstanding Archeologist and presented him the 2013 Bernard (Ben) Brenman Award for Archaeology during an October 2013 ceremony.

Reissuance of Seven Norfolk District COE Regional Permits

On August 14, 2013, the Norfolk District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) announced the reissuance of seven Regional Permits (RPs) (RP-01, RP-02, RP-15, RP-17, RP-18, RP-19, and RP-22). These permits supersede and replace all previous versions. The Norfolk District has reissued these permits for five years with an expiration date of August 14, 2018.

Bald Eagles Still Delay Development - Search Window Starts in February

The Bald Eagle nesting season is almost upon us, and with it, a reminder that, when present, active nests carry a list of restricted activities that may or may not be performed within a specific distance of the nest. If you are planning on developing land near a bald eagle nest, you need to be aware of these restrictions and obtain the proper permits, if necessary.
