Stormwater Permits - Last Chance!

At the Virginia Tech Land Development Design Initiative (LDDI) summer meeting, Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) staff stated that they have not received Notice of Terminations or 2014 VPDES General Permit applications for hundreds of projects which had active 2009 General Permits. In order to have obtained continuous VPDES Construction General Permit coverage, permitees who had an active 2009 General Permit were required to submit a 2014 General Registration statement to DEQ by June 30, 2014.

If you had a 2009 General Permit, but missed the June 30th deadline, DEQ is still accepting 2014 reissuance applications (and associated permit fees) to extend coverage under the 2009 stormwater design criteria. This should be done immediately since these construction sites are operating without a permit until 2014 permit coverage is issued and are subject to fines and a possible stop work order.
